Medical Administrative Assistant Certificate
This certificate is for more experienced office staff who would like to learn new skills and move up in their current positions. Students build an ePortfolio as they go through their program that highlights the skills they have learned, as well as create a resume, cover letter template, and LinkedIn account to create a professional presence online.
Introduction to Computers
In this course, students will be introduced to basic computer terminology, computer operating systems, and application software. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to work independently on a personal computer with beginning skills in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Typing skill is an advantage but not a requirement of this course.
Business Math
This class is for any adult needing a general understanding of math functions in a business. Some of the entry level information covered includes: profit and loss, banking, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, spreadsheets and computerized accounting, cash receipts and expenses, taxes, inventories, and the basics of bookkeeping.

Career Advising
This course will prepare students for post-secondary education and/or the work place. Evaluations of work abilities and skills toward career pathways are major components of the course. Recognizing and overcoming barriers to college and the work place will be discussed as well as development of appropriate attitudes, time management, organizational skills, conflict resolution, and work ethic needed for obtaining and keeping a job. College placement testing, application, and campus tours, will be covered as well as cover letters, resumes, ePortfolio, LinkedIn profile, and interviewing skills.

Office Communications I
Students will be introduced to the skills necessary to succeed as office workers such as effective communication skills, human resource issues, general office procedures and the usage of a variety of office machines. Knowledge of human relations skills and business will be emphasized.
Medical Administrative Assistant 1
In this course, students will learn the Introductory concepts to become a Medical Administrative Assistant Topics in this course will include; career and job essentials, the healthcare system and team, medical law and ethics and operations of the medical office. We will also consider the growing diversity of the communities we serve.

Medical Administrative Assistant 2
In this course, students will build on concepts learned in Medical Administrative Assistant I. Topics in this course will include; appointment scheduling, receptions skills, registration topics and the legal medical record.
Medical Administrative Assistant 3
In this course, students will learn concepts to become a Medical Administrative Assistant. Students will work through activities including simulating the office setting and learning how to access and utilize electronic medical records. Topics in this course will include: Procedure and diagnosis coding, medical billing and health insurance.
Medical Terminology
In this course, students will learn the language of medical terminology, in the scope of healthcare that is used in medical offices, hospitals and outpatient settings. Root words, suffixes and prefixes will be covered. This course will also review the following body systems: nervous, skeletal, cardiovascular, muscle and other systems of the human body.
