Augusta Adult and Community Education, Togus V.A. Medical Center, Eastern Maine Development Corporation, Western Maine Workforce Development, Community Concepts and the Career Center are partnering to offer Certified Nursing Assistant Training. You may be able to have this training paid for if you meet certain eligibility requirements.
This training encompasses 21st Century WorkReady skills, certified nursing theory and lab classes as well as hands on clinical training. This program meets the requirements for State of Maine certification. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be guaranteed an interview at Togus VA Medical Center.
The training schedule is tentatively set as follows:
Lab and Theory at the Capital Area Technical Center: July 8th - August 20th Thursdays and Fridays (all day sessions)
Clinical Practice at Togus VA Maine Healthcare System: August 23rd - September 10th (2 days per week; 12 hour shifts)
Things to know before you apply:
· must be 18 years old (Identification required)
· must have a high school diploma or equivalent
· must pass a background check
· must complete an application and include 2 letters of reference
· must show proof of required immunizations
· must complete onboarding paperwork for Togus Medical Facility
In addition, candidates must complete a reading, writing, digital literacy and career assessment prior to June 9th, 2021.
These assessments (called CASAS assessments) are offered at the following times each week:
Mondays (1pm) available: May 17, May 24, June 7
Tuesdays (5pm) available: May 11, May 18, May 25, June 1
Thursdays (9am) available: May 13, May 20, May 27, June 3

There will be a full Informational Session for all who apply on Wednesday, June 9th from 9:00 am until 10:30 am via Zoom. Link will be provided through your e-mail address after you complete the necessary assessments and paperwork.
